Akshon Esports (www.akshonesports.com) is a nexus for all things Esports. Our mission is to entice Esports fans with information on trending topics, players, teams, events, and more! We are a startup company with a team of entrepreneurial individuals who hope to expand the Esports community and bring to the competitive nature of gaming while telling the narratives in the scene.
We are looking for motivated and committed content creator and writer who wants to expose themselves in the Overwatch Esports industry in addition to other exciting esport titles. As an Akshon Esports content creator, you will be working with passionate and talented producers as well as other writers. Note that this is a part-time position.
We can guarantee you that you will be working in a fun, interactive startup working environment where you get to experience the growth and make key decisions for the company.
Your responsibilities:
- Primarily create engaging content (articles, opinion pieces, interviews etc) for our readership
- Pitch original content ideas that align with the Akshon Esports brand
- Create graphics and social media content
- Assist in community engagement through social media channels and Discord
- Willingness to lean and expand into other areas of Esports content creation
Requirements:
- Expertise and strong familiarity in the Competitive Overwatch Scene
- Previous experience as a news editor and/or writer in a post-secondary or professional news setting is a plus
- Proficiency in design software (i.e. Adobe Creative Cloud)
- Excellent communication skills; ability to be impactful in a large environment
- Ability to write and edit in a modern, creative style
- Good ability to discuss and pitch design options
- Understanding of online community guidelines (YouTube/Reddit) and best practices preferred
- MUST be from Vancouver - this is NOT a remote position
Preference given to applicants with:
- Proactive and self-driven individuals who believe in the esports industry and want to contribute to its growth
- Exposure and knowledge of Competitive Overwatch
- Experience and/or show a willingness to name a name for themselves in this space
