To help each student participating in this enrichment activity to achieve a high level of skill, an understanding of the strategies of the game, an appreciation for the values of discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork, and an increased level of self-esteem.

The Intramural Coach reports to the Building Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees all aspects of starting a competitive high school eSports enrichment activity that includes recruitment of qualified student athletes, monitoring academic progress, budgeting, scheduling, competition and practice preparation, individual and program development, facility and equipment maintenance, fundraising and community activities.

  • Serves as central point of information on all issues related to esports and player operations.
  • Creates and develops a positive connection with non APS teams and the district.
  • Recruits and supports esports students and develops their positive connection with the district and community.
  • Serves as point of contact for player management issues, team stability and resource for managers.
  • Supports the Adrian High School esport team/s at major events and LANs (Local Area Network).
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of esports, policies and industry standards.
  • Skilled in managing and organizing personnel, equipment and material resources in order to provide the most efficient training environment.
  • Possess the creativity and ability to self-direct and construct a long term vision for building a successful esports intramural program.
  • Teach sound and updated strategies of the game.
  • Plans and schedules all practices in season and out.
  • Is responsible for out of season programs.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area assigned to the esport for practices and contests.
  • Maintains accurate statistics, records, and results of the season.
  • Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards.
  • Establishes a fair set of behavior standards in developing team and training rules.
  • Maintains competency in knowledge of the rules and interpretations, contest procedures, and general information about all aspects of the eSport.
  • Follows all rules concerning state and district guidelines concerning student academic eligibility.
  • Collects all emergency forms and conduct codes and places those on file with the office.
  • Develops and updates all rosters and helps prepare tournament information.
  • Account for all equipment within the program or delegates this responsibility.
  • Develops a consistent and positive public communications procedure through the school and the media to inform the community about the program.
  • Support and uphold the District Student Conduct Code.
  • Attends all necessary meetings on the state, conference, and department level.
  • Evaluation of program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree or at least one (1) year of competitive esports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team based elements.
  • Knowledge of major esports titles (League of legends, Overwatch, RB6 Siege, Fortnite, NBA 2K, etc.).
  • Two (2) years of experience managing enrichment activities, examples would include athletic/eSports programs or as a program coach/manager overseeing teams in an athletic/student environment.
  • Two years experience in a leadership position that deals with conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of all current and upcoming esports titles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The ability to read, write and interpret documents, instructional manuals, technical reports, procedures, and rulings. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, administrators, parents, tournament organizers, managers, coaches or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

The ability to calculate figures and amounts, to work with percentages. The ability to apply basic concepts in algebra, geometry, and statistics. To have some computer literacy.

REASONING ABILITY

The ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The ability to analyze situations and systems, identify problems and problem solve various situations and implement objective and fair solutions. The ability to use sound judgment in making decisions that affect the program. The ability to synthesize complex information, including tactical, legal and financial information for presentation in a clear and comprehensive manner.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Exhibit qualities of leadership. Have the ability to organize. Show a spirit of cooperation. Possess the ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Possess the ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.

The specific vision requirements of the job include good depth perception. The ability to see objects/persons at a distance. The employee is frequently required to hear conversation in a quiet as well as noisy environment. The employee must also be able to tell were sound is coming from. The employee must be able to communicate to the team in order to give direction.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work inside or outside or at times both depending on the event. The practice site may be different from the competition site. The employee will occasionally be asked to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The employee must be able to deal with staff and the public. The employee is responsible for the safety and well being of all students under their supervision.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
