Your Mission

As a Senior Concept Artist you will align your team to the Art Directors vision through direction, feedback, concept and mark-up. Your keen eye and art sensibilities are key in creating artwork that inspires and informs the team as a whole. Your excellent communication and organization skills will aid production in scheduling deliverables and meeting deadlines, in addition to managing the teams day-to-day needs.

Responsibilities

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities

  • Maintain close communication with Art Director and other Leads to ensure concepts are providing effective visual solutions that balance art direction and game design needs.
  • Ensure concepts fit all stages of production including loose sketches, blue-sky paintings, pre-visualization, production paintings, paint-overs, mark-up and marketing assets.
  • Assign tasks and review work regularly, providing feedback to ensure quality and alignment of deliverables.
  • Engage in planning with production, quantifying the work of the team and assessing the teams capacity.
  • Prioritize and supervise the groups work to ensure your team meets deadlines.
  • Manage the performance of the team including training, mentorship, and career guidance.

Player Profile

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience creating high-quality 2D art, concepts, and designs for games.
  • Performed in a leadership role on at least 1 published AAA title.
  • Demonstrate strong sketching and rendering ability, matte painting, mark-up and graphic design skill.
  • You will use methods/art techniques in the most effective way to solve visual problems to help deliver design solutions that are timely and communicative to the team.
  • Strong understanding of architecture and environmental design.
  • Solid art foundation background in traditional art skills and can demonstrate an understanding of fundamentals in composition, perspective, proportion, scale, value, lighting and color theory.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, comfortable working in a large team environment.
  • Shows interest in delivering the best possible results and puts in effort to achieve them.
  • Ability to guide, manage and mentor other artists.

Extra Points

  • Be an expert in Photoshop.
  • Utilize 3d applications like Blender, Maya, Zbrush, Sketch-up, etc., to facilitate work when needed.
  • Must be comfortable with learning new tools, including some of the game tools.
  • Must have a portfolio of work for consideration. Web based portfolios are preferred.
