Activision Blizzard is looking for a Sr. Manager of Global PR for its esports division, leading external communications for both the Call of Duty League and Overwatch League – two of the preeminent esports properties in the world. This individual will report to the Sr. Director of Global Communications and will work hand-in-hand with the Activision Blizzard esports marketing, product and content teams, among others, including the comms and games teams at both Activision and Blizzard Entertainment.

The candidate who will succeed in this role has an entrepreneurial spirit, who can take both traditional and non-traditional approaches to broaden the fan base and drive increased engagement and viewership for both these revolutionary, professional esports leagues. The candidate should be a detail-oriented multitasker, who can work with a data-driven focus. The ideal candidate has at least 7 to 12 years of consumer PR experience in-house or at an agency, has coordinated with international teams, mastered cross-functional relationship building, and successfully launched entertainment properties. Strategic thinking, unencumbered creativity, and the ability to advocate for communications needs to stakeholders across the organization are vital.

This person will be responsible for leading Overwatch League and Call of Duty League into the future while working closely and collaboratively with our agency partners. The role will be responsible for ongoing media relations, message development, communications planning, crisis communications, content ideation and creation, event management and data-driven reporting that informs strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all seasonal planning and communications budget for both Call of Duty League and Overwatch League
  • Lead earned media approach
  • Drive League-specific messaging
  • Lead earned-centric creative ideation
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners and BU counterparts
  • Manage agency resources and planning
  • Align PR in partnership with Leagues leadership
  • Oversee relationships with team comms leads at both Leagues
  • Coordinate with regional Activision Blizzard counterparts for global activations / announcements
  • Manage live and online events
  • Support media training and press briefings of spokespeople and staff interviews, industry events, and press interactions
  • Potentially travel domestically and internationally, as applicable

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7+ years of PR communications experience, in-house or agency, or both
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to process and distill large volumes of information and straddle concurrently between projects
  • Proven record of delivering communications results that drive overall company impact
  • Experienced in a cross-functional environment, particularly when it comes to integration (i.e., marketing, product, legal, strategy / development, etc.)
  • Conversant in data and analytics; experience working within vendor platforms and building stories from data for various stakeholders
  • Strong existing relationships with broad consumer and business media; relationships with gaming media a plus
  • Live event experience; large-scale / arena-based event management a plus
  • Experience at content shoots / editing of visual content
  • Experience managing an agency
  • Crisis / issues management experience
