Job Description

343 Industries, the studio that oversees the award-winning Halo video game and entertainment franchise, is looking for a talented, passionate, and effective Engineer to join the Core Game Systems team working on Halo Infinite!   As a member of this team, you will work alongside a group of talented individuals to debug and optimize foundational engine systems.

Core Game Systems is a team of specialists focused on scaling the Slipspace Engine to match the ever-increasing amounts of content created by our gameplay designers and artists.  The focus of this role will be on debugging and optimizing complex systems underlying the core gameplay of Halo Infinite, and candidates should expect to work across a range of technologies.  These technologies include but are not limited to: Content Streaming, Scripting Systems, and Performance.  The ideal candidate will enjoy tackling challenging and complex problems, with an eye for both runtime and memory performance, scalable design, and architectural elegance.


  • Develop, implement, and support core gameplay streaming and scripting systems.
  • Develop and manage streaming systems for single player, co-op, and MP.
  • Investigate complex issues arising in low-level systems.
  • Dig into large and complex systems for debugging purposes.
  • Collaborate to track down, analyze, and solve loosely defined performance problems.
  • Optimize streaming systems to ship on multiple (also low spec) platforms.
  • Collaborate with peer gameplay teams and content creators.
  • Consider user impact for designers and artists when designing low-level systems and features.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years of professional programming experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in C++.
  • Comfortable working with large complex codebases.
  • Proven ability to gather deep knowledge of specific features.
  • Willingness to dig into the details of complex problems.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, performance, optimization, and debugging.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.


  • Experience with modern game engines and technologies.
  • Experience with LUA or similar scripting systems.
  • Experience developing data-driven systems.
