The Communications team manages all public relations and influencer marketing for 2K titles. We are a team of talented storytellers, passionate video game players and communications professionals dedicated to raising awareness and driving purchase intent for our slate of fantastic games. We challenge ourselves to create fresh strategies and leverage our deep relationships with consumer media, enthusiast press and influencers to tell compelling brand stories.

What We Need

An experienced PR professional to execute global communications plans and adapt for the Americas market for each of 2K’s sports titles, including one of 2K’s most popular franchises, NBA 2K. Someone with proven media experience and appetite for managing press relationships across media verticals throughout the duration of a campaign. A person with a track record collaborating cross-functionally and is knowledgeable in sports and sports video games.

What You Will Do

  • Reporting to the Director of Marketing for NBA 2K, you will serve as a primary executor and project manager of global communications campaigns for the NBA 2K and all other 2K sports franchises
  • Lead the tactical execution of these plans (with agency partners) in market, observing best practices in the Americas
  • Proactively manage and deftly balance multiple initiatives and timelines across multiple franchises, each involving and supporting multiple internal teams
  • Balance your role as a territory-specific strategist with personal ownership and execution of key consumer and enthusiast media relationships
  • Monitor and analyze key campaign performance indicators and leverage insights and audience feedback to improve current and future campaign performance
  • Work in partnership with Influencer Marketing Manager and Social Media Manager colleagues to integrate market-specific storytelling opportunities
  • Actively participate in relationship with external PR agency to execute strategic and successful Americas PR campaigns
  • Drive creation and implementation of Americas tactical plans across all 2K sports franchises while working closely with Global Senior PR Manager (NBA 2K) and Global PR Manager (Sports) to ensure implementation and identify areas to improve global relevance
  • Meet, exceed and report against measurable objectives as set by global comms through implementation and adaptation of global strategies to fit market realities
  • Have a willingness to complete any other reasonable activity required by the wider Americas sports team and/ or global communications team

Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit

2K is looking for a PR professional with experience launching video games, ongoing lifecycle management and a personal passion for sports and 2K’s sports game franchises. The ideal candidate is a media strategist and project manager with a strong list of established media relationships in the gaming, entertainment, consumer lifestyle and tech industries. The person has experience with (or at least a strong interest in) implementing a data-driven approach to communications strategy. The candidate is also versed in and has experience working with social and content platforms like YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok, and has collaborated closely with Influencer Marketing Managers and Social Media Managers in the past.

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, English or a related area of study
  • A minimum of 5+ years of public relations work experience, including experience launching video games. PR agency experience and knowledge of video games industry is strongly preferred.
  • A demonstrated track record of securing coverage across media verticals as well as managing reactive press and community needs
  • Strong passion for sports, culture and video games
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills. Ability to build strong, lasting professional relationships with internal partner groups and individuals.
  • Ability to anticipate necessary next actions and accept responsibility for moving projects toward completion
  • Strong PC skills, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with social listening and video analytics tools like Tubular, Synthesio and SpikeTrap, as well as social content platforms like YouTube/Twitch/Discord, is strongly preferred
