I am working with an exciting, venture-backed web3 start-up that is looking to change the game and public perception of the space; to enable interoperability across the web3 eco-sphere by creating a 'steam-like' platform to enable easy and frictionless onboarding to web3 for the masses.

The team is in need of Lead and Director-level UI/UX Designers to assist with design during the final stretch of their 2.0 platform and launch as well as joining the game development team as a first ten hire to guide the design of their MMO.

As a UI Designer, you will be designing the player experiences through your knowledge of systemic design, graphic design, interactivity, layout, typography, color theory, and illustration. Designers collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and act as both artistic and design problem solvers. They understand players and ask questions about the what, who and how when solving an interface or communication challenge.

As a UI Designer working for my client, you will develop and execute on visuals to support new content and products in and around the game, with a focus on implementing UI assets. You will collaborate with Producers, Artists, Designers, and Engineers across the product.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other Visual Designers, UX, and engineers to learn workflow processes within the team.
  • Design and create UI elements for use across my client's various offerings.
  • Create polished menu/platform experiences that enhance player interactions and help deepen the player experience;
  • Generate, maintain and disseminate design documents such as style guides and design pattern libraries that facilitate a high-quality, consistent visual aesthetic;
  • Work closely and cross-disciplinary with Feature teams to create and implement 2D assets;
  • An ability to identify and solve issues impacting the output quality of work;
  • Review your work and prioritize changes;
  • Possess a growth mindset, seeking mentorship from prominent and relevant artists.
  • Craft visually balanced and intuitive interfaces that show an understanding of readability hierarchy, and player behavior patterns.
  • Foster an open creative environment where teammates collaborate to help each other create better artwork through honest criticism and feedback;

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Visual Designer / UI/UX Designer in gaming or a gaming adjacent space;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects;
  • Demonstrated design fundamentals (layout, composition, grids, typography, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the game development pipeline including optimization, localization, and implementation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understand the Web3 user experience design and pain points.
  • Knowledge of NFT marketplaces.
  • Hands-on experience contributing to a mass-audience game, product launch, or entertainment property through the craft of visual communication design;
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects;
  • Familiarity with Unity, Unreal, or relevant game engine;
  • Experience in a secondary area such as motion graphics, illustration, animation, or modeling is a plus
